Sitosterol (synthetic from plant sterol)
β-sitosterol is a phytosterol (plant sterol) found in a wide variety of plants such as pecans, saw palmetto, avocados, pumpkin seed, rice bran, wheat germ, and soybeans. Recently, sitosterol has been investigated as a substitute for cholesterol in lipid-based mRNA delivery systems. In 2020, it was reported that β-sitosterol-substituted lipid nanoparticle (LNPs) maintained comparable size and encapsulation but were considerably more effective at mRNA transfection than LNPs containing cholesterol (Patel, 2020). Purchase Avanti"s sitosterol today to fuel your therapeutics delivery research.
